My Mind is Swirling, Whirling, Gurgling!

I have no excuse for being a bad blogger, except that with the release of Whisper and the home invasion by our three kids on spring break, I have fallen hopelessly behind.

Now Blakely, the real one for whom Hush was written, is graduating from high school.

The realization of having a child preparing to enter college, and everything that goes with it, is mind-boggling.

I think how can I be that old? Then I laugh, as I look in the mirror and see the smile creases lining my face.

I am so glad that we ran into that street reporter so long again and was inspired by the question he asked. “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I can’t imagine what my life would have been like had I lived in fear of the unknown and was not willing to take the risk required to become what I truly desired.

I love being a writer and hope that I have proven to Blakely, as she moves on with this next phase of her life, that anything is possible.

As Lisa Cron, a fellow writer, said in a blog post about The Importance of Letting ‘Em See You Sweat.  “If you’re not at least a little bit afraid, you’re not doing it right.”

  1. Yes! Here’s to smile creases, inspiring kids and embracing fear rather than boredom!

  2. My oldest is getting ready to graduate as well. It is mind blowing to me. I am sure she is inspired by you! I a complete stranger have been inspired so much by you! I hope that the celebrations go well, and that you enjoy these precious moments :)!
